Vincent R. Marco, 84, of La Crosse died Friday, November 15, 2019, in Bethany St. Joseph’s Care Center.
Vincent was a faithful parishioner at St. James the Less Parish in La Crosse for his entire life. He graduated from Logan High School in 1954 and joined the United States Navy. Upon his return from service, he married Sharon L. Blank in 1957 and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. Vincent worked at Trane Company in La Crosse for more than 40 years. He loved Wisconsin sports teams, most especially the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he passed the enjoyment of the outdoors on to his children and grandchildren. Vincent was dependable and loyal, always there to help family and friends. The foundation for his sense of duty toward his family and his country was his faith and the values instilled in him by his parents. In retirement he could often be found at “The Boathouse” or on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s sporting events, occasionally yelling at referees and umpires.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Hazel Marco, and is survived by his wife Sharon, two brothers, Robert (Patricia) and Bruce (Barbara), his three children, Michael (Patricia), Patrick (Heidi), and Lisa (James) Roth, five grandchildren, ten great- grandchildren, and lifelong friends Chuck and Joan Horton, Don and Marilyn Heilman, and Buff and Carol Peterson. He will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. Donations in Vincent’s name can be given to the Logan High School Booster Club or the La Crosse Boys and Girls Club. Eternal rest grant unto him, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
