Thomas “Tom†P. Padesky, 84, of La Crosse, Wis., died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Mayo Health System, La Crosse, Wis. He was born the youngest of four siblings in La Crosse, Wis., on September 6, 1929, to Charles and Marie (Amundson) Padesky. He married Nancy Baum on September 15, 1956, in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, La Crosse, Wis.
Tom graduated from St. Wenceslaus and Aquinas Schools Class of 1947. He joined the US Marines and served our country for five years where he spent time on board the USS Missouri.
He worked as an electrician with his brother and for Papenfuss Electric. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish, American Legion, The Sokols and 4th Degree Bishop Schweback Assembly 1195 and directed the Oktoberfest Singers. He was on the Western Wisconsin Technical College (Now WTC) Board and Electrical Apprenticeship for many years. He also served on the County Committee for Aging. He loved to Bowl and Golf and was an original member of Virg’s Wednesday Night Golf Group and Elk’s Wisconsin Bowling Team. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy, of La Crosse, Wis.; his children Mark (Mary) Padesky of La Crosse, Wis., Michael Padesky of Lodi, Wis., and Ann Padesky of La Crosse, Wis., his sister Jeanne Kneifl of La Crosse, Wis., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Don, brothers-in-law Gerard Kneifl, Robert Baum and Michael Tighe,A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 21, 2014, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. So., La Crosse, Wis., Msgr. Steven Kachel and Rev. Peter Raj will concelebrate, with burial with military honors by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7:00 PM today at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis., with a Rosary to be held at 4:00 PM. Family and friends may also call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Parish or Aquinas Catholic Schools. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sparta, Wis., Bethany St. Joseph and the Mayo Clinic/Franciscan Healthcare for their wonderful care over the last year.
