Tom Koelbl (Bullit), 83, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Onalaska Care Center. He was born August 2, 1937 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to Matthew and Dorothy (Kuholsky) Koelbl. Tom grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School in 1955. Tom was the owner of Koelbl’s Bar (Goose Green, La Crosse) until 1997. He married Joan Stuber in 1971 and they later divorced. Tom was a member of St. James Parish. He was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed Civil War & World War II books. Crossword puzzles were one of his most enjoyable hobbies. He was extremely passionate about the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame Football, Milwaukee Brewers and Wisconsin Badgers. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed going to Sam’s bar on weekends.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Matthew and mother, Dorothy Koelbl of La Crosse.
Thomas is survived by his two children, Kevin (Barb) Koelbl of Campbellsport and Karmen Koelbl of Milwaukee, his brothers, Jim (Joyce) Koelbl, John Koelbl, Ed (Lorna) Koelbl, all of La Crosse. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Matthew and Alyssa Koelbl of Campbellsport .
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 on Friday, January 22, 2020 in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13th Street South, La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Rick Roberts will officiate with inurnment to be held in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Family and friends may visit form 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at Church on Friday.
