Thomas J Dolle, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. Tom was born on February 28, 1949, in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was the son of Herman and Gertrude Dolle.
Tom grew up in La Crosse, WI where he graduated from Aquinas High School in 1967 and went on to earn his associate's degree from WWTC in Carpentry. After graduating, he enlisted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
When Tom returned home from the Army, he worked for various contractors until he found a home working for Horman Builders for over 30 years. He specialized as a finish carpenter among all other facets of his trade. His intense attention to detail and drive for perfection proved to be an asset to whatever task he was presented with.
On December 12th, 1992, Tom married Mary Lund, at St James Church, in La Crosse, WI. They were both fortunate to retire in 2003. They would spend every day together doing the things that they loved, most precious to them was just being together. Whether it was working in the garden, going for their daily walks, or just talking, they were inseparable. Wherever Mary was, Tom was with her and vice versa.
Tom's passion for gardening was like no other. You could find him in his greenhouse 12 months a year doing something. He would tell anyone who would listen that a greenhouse is where he could grow the "perfect looking tomato", though they did not taste as good as those grown outside. Just like everything Tom set his mind to, his goal was perfection. He would grow an abundance of Apples, Strawberries, Carrots, Watermelon, etc. With everything he grew, he would share with those that meant the world to him and Mary. He would share with his family and neighbors while providing produce regularly to the La Crescent Health Services, and the Hunger Task Force in La Crosse.
Tom is survived by the love of his life, wife Mary (Lund) Dolle, his sister Louise (Dewey) Adams, brother Lawrence (Jennifer) Dolle, his nieces, nephews, and his chocolate lab Susie.
Family and friends may gather for a visitation Saturday, January 25th, from 9:30am - 11:00am at St Joseph the Working Cathedral, 503 Main Street, La Crosse. Mass of the Resurrection to follow at 11:00am. Burial will take place at the Catholic Cemetery on French Island privately.
Finally, a special thank you to the staff at Gundersen Health Systems and especially to the Nurses Brittney, Micala and Beth for their compassion during his final days. You will forever be remembered in our hearts.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
