Theresa M. Pericak

Theresa M. (Hengel) Pericak, age 55, of rural Chaseburg, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. She was born in La Crosse on March 16, 1959 to John and Edna (Campbell) Hengel, and married David Pericak on January 7, 1999.

Theresa is survived by her husband Dave Pericak, one daughter; Isabela Pericak, and one son; Evan Pericak. She is also survived by three sisters; Patricia Hengel-Scruggs of Onalaska, son Matthew Scruggs and daughter Rebecca Scruggs; Lori (Richard) Penkalski of De Soto, daughter Tiffany Penkalski and son John Merfeld-Hengel; Julie (Patrick) Mehren of La Crosse, daughters Emily and Amelia Guentner; her mother-in-law Dorothy Pericak. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, and her father-in-law Ervin Pericak.

Theresa had many interests and passions in life, but in recent years spent much of her time developing beautiful flower gardens that gave her extreme enjoyment. She had a deep love for animals including her labs. She had a great sense of humor and always fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves, including many area families during her work as a social worker.

She had many challenges throughout her life and most recently with a chronic health condition. She was determined to persevere because of her faith and deep love for her family.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes, 1501 West Ave. S., La Crosse.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
