YUTUC, Sylvia
Sylvia Mae Yutuc passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday Jan. 9th.
She was born April 6, 1933 in Cincinnati, OH to Cecilia M. and Harry Mallory. She married Wilfrido (Fred) R. Yutuc on October 2, 1959 after falling in love with him on their first blind date. She and Fred lived a full life together dancing, bowling, and golfing. They enjoyed many golf trips to Florida and Hawaii through the years.
She earned her nursing degree at St. Elizabeth’s in Covington, KY and attended graduate school at the University of Cincinnati.
Sylvia and Fred lived in La Crosse most of their married life where they raised their six children, Lita (Mike) Hoffmann, Lynn (Mike) Hickey, Tita (Duane Redding) Yutuc, Will (Katie) Yutuc, Maria (Mike) McClellan and Arminda Yutuc.
Sylvia led a full life with many pursuits including golf, bowling, racquet ball, water and cross-country skiing, showing dogs (Regal), ceramics, beading, sewing and expert knitting. Her travels took her far and wide to Paris, Italy, Philippines, Spain, and throughout the United States. Most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her family and giving her seven grandkids “special†handshakes. She shared her talent of golfing with the Aquinas girls’ golf team as their coach and volunteered with the Girl Scout organization. For many years she contributed ceramic nativity scenes to the Blessed Sacrament Christmas bazaar. Of all her talents, golf was her favorite, especially having won the La Crosse Country Club golf championship.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-five years and their six kids. She cherished her time with her grandchildren, each special to her in their own way, Ian and Ryan Hoffmann, Brandon and Justine Hickey, Erin Boquist, and Calvin and Jake McClellan.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Harry, Howard, Henrietta and Vernice.
Sylvia was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandma. She never failed to welcome all with open arms and her own special crooked smile. We will treasure every memory and miss her dearly.
