GORDON, Steven C.

Steven C. Gordon, 63, of La Crosse, Wis., died Friday, May 2, 2014, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis. He was born Feb. 18. 1951, to Lawrence and Janice (Novacek) Gordon. He married Kathleen Pokorny on March 17, 1973, in DePere, Wis. and they later divorced.

 

Steven served our country in the US Army as a Medic in Japan during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged. He spent his life as a hard working man, working at a Paper Mill in Appleton, Wis. He moved back to La Crosse, Wis., to be near family taking employment with the Burlington Northern Rail Road. Steven eventually went back to school graduating “With Honors” obtaining his HVAC License. He worked as an HVAC Engineer. Upon retirement, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, nature walking and photography.

 

He is survived by his daughter; Billie Jo (Ronald Jr.) Woods of Westminster, CO., two granddaughters; Ravyn and Charlize Woods, three sisters; Sandy (John) Schlichenmeyer of La Crosse, Wis., Mary Jo Gordon of West Salem, Wis., and Kathleen (Terrence) Collins of La Crosse, Wis., one brother; Lawrence (Peggy) Gordon Jr. of Chillicothe, Ohio, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Thomas Gordon.

Services will be held at 5:30 PM Monday, May 5, 2014, in the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis. Private family burial will take place. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until the time of services at the funeral home on Monday. Military Honors will follow the services provided by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52, at the funeral home.
