GOLLNICK, Albert “Steve”
Steve Gollnick, 77, of La Crosse, passed away at his home with his wife at his side after a long battle with cancer.
He was born April 28, 1941, to Arnold and Rose Gollnick. He attended Central High School. Steve Joined the Marine Corps and proudly served for 20 years. He then became deputy sheriff for Riverside California Law Enforcement. Upon retiring he moved to his beloved Montana Mountain region where he enjoyed his horses, dogs, hunting, and riding his Harley.
In 2009, he was reunited with his childhood sweetheart Liz-a-Betty Kreibich, they were united in marriage on horseback in Oatman, Arizona on January 14, 2010.
They have spent their time together between La Crosse and Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Steve was active in Trap Shooting, Harley riding and boating.
Steve is survived by his wife: Liz; daughters: Jackie (Mike) Mullett of Texas; Carol (Al) of Loppie, Montana; son: Brian Gollnick, California; step daughters: Lisa (Tom) Kratt, La Crosse; Micki (Dave Banasik) Vollmar, Black River Falls; stepson and shooting buddy:, Jeff (Paula) Vollmar, La Crescent; grandchildren: Mick and Rebecca Mullett; Cary, Ryan, and Taylor Weckman; Cade Loppie; step grandchildren: Amy (Will) Mathy; Tommy Kratt; Lexy Banasik; step great grandson:, Charlie Mathy. Three sisters:, Sharon, Kathy, and Cindy.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald and Johnny Gollnick.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in July.
The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.
