Robert G Schneyer, 80, of La Crosse died peacefully at his home Friday, March 30, 2018, surrounded by God and folks who loved him.
Bob was born in Beaver Dam, WI in 1938 to Hubert and Helen (Pavek) Schneyer and graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School in 1956. After High School, he attended Holy Cross Seminary for a year before attending and graduating from UW-La Crosse with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Astronomy. He received a Masters degree in Social Work from UW-Madison in 1967. He was a marriage and family therapist in the La Crosse area for nearly 40 years and positively touched many lives through his practice with his gentle and caring nature.
Bob was blessed to be married to the love of his life, Theresa (Butler) for almost 55 years. They had four wonderful children and 6 adoring grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Theresa; his sons Robert E, Jeffrey (Treena), Matthew (Kari) and daughter Jeanne (Don); Grandsons Andrew, Reid, Dane and granddaughters Megan, Elizabeth and Hannah. He is additionally survived by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hoffman and Shirley Schneyer and three nieces, Kathy (Tim), Susan (Brian) and Kris (Tim).
Bob’s creative, spiritual and fun-loving nature was infectious and will live on in many ways well beyond his passing from this earth. Bob leaves behind many treasured stories & songs that he wrote and loved. He leaves a hope that some of them will be used in a variety of positive ways as they speak to the richness of being alive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lynn Schneyer.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated and a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Roncalli Newman Center Parish in La Crosse on Saturday, April 28. Visitation will be held from 9-11:00 AM so his family and friends can gather and remember this beautiful man whose presence graced this planet for 80 years. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. followed by a luncheon where all are welcome to share and enjoy stories or memories of Bob. A private burial to occur at a later date.

As a tribute to Bob’s giving spirit, memorials can be sent to WAFER food pantry, Hunger Task Force of La Crosse or Place of Grace.
