Robert A. Guggenbuehl Sr., age 88 of La Crosse, died November 1, 2021 at Hillview Care Center.

Robert was born on March 30, 1933 to George and Regina Guggenbuehl. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force until he was honorably discharged.

On June 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Karen Mach. Together they were blessed with three children, Robert Jr, Barbara and Angela. Robert spent 40 years working at Trane Company as an X-Ray Technician.

Robert, in his prime of life, enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He also enjoyed spending time building and flying model airplanes. In his later years, he enjoyed playing cards at the senior center here in La Crosse and for a time in Hudson, WI. Robert was a devoted Catholic and diligent in his faith and commitment to God. He was a stern father and taught his kids priceless life lessons. Robert had a great sense of humor and treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.

Robert will remain in the hearts of his wife of 61 years, Karen; his children, Robert Jr. (Jane) Guggenbuehl and Angela (John) Richter; His son-in-law, Wayne Karls; His 5 grandchildren, Jessica Guggenbuehl, Damian (Heather) Guggenbuehl, Abby (Paul) Chase, Jagger (Cole) Bjork and Bon Karls; 3 great grandchildren, Jaxton and Blakely Guggenbuehl and Everett Chase; his brothers Lawrence (Lois) Guggenbuehl and James Guggenbuehl; as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara A. Karls; his parents, George and Regina Guggenbuehl; his grandson, Jonas Olson, his twin brother, Richard Guggenbuehl; sisters Dolores (Douglas) Schindler and Patricia (Lawrence) Breen; and sister-in-law, Karen Guggenbuehl.

The Visitation and Mass will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St, La Crosse, WI 54601. Visitation will start at 11am and go until the start of the Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will start at 12pm (Noon) followed by a luncheon. Robert will be laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse in a private burial on Monday November 15, 2021. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity in Robert’s name.
