Phyllis J. Seufzer, 81, of La Crosse, WI, died on Friday, July 28, 2023 in her home. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 2, 1942, to Henry and Marie (Schwendt) Giebelhaus. She married Donald Seufzer in Lincoln, Nebraska on October 13, 1962.
In 1970, Phyllis and Don moved to La Crosse. They enjoyed square dancing and round dancing. After Phyllis had their children, she started doing ceramics as a hobby, worked as a Nurses Aid at a local nursing home, and had various jobs in the restaurant industry. In her later years she enjoyed quilting and was a member of the La Crosse Area Quilters. Phyllis and Don enjoyed traveling to various places in the U.S. and at one point Phyllis went on a mission trip to Peru. Phyllis’ happiest moments were spending time with her family, and she cherished every minute.
She is survived by her husband Donald Seufzer, three daughters; Margie (Tom) Stratman, Jeana (Carrie Mahlum) Peters, and Nancy (Mike) Driller, five grandchildren; Kyle Peters, Nathan Driller, Brandon (Jessie) Stratman, Alizabeth Mahlum, and Hannah Mahlum. She is also survived by her brother Jim Giebelhaus, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Lavern Kettman.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 11:00 AM, in St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1032 Caledonia St., La Crosse. Rev. Robert Letona will officiate with burial to take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at Church on Friday.
