Patricia Burbach

Patricia Ann “Pat” Burbach, 81, of La Crosse, WI died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, surrounded by her family, following a brave battle with cancer.

Patricia Ann Gora was born on Sunday, December 7, 1941, in La Crosse, WI to Harry and Magdelen (Seracki) Gora. She was raised in La Crosse and graduated from Logan High School. On July 27, 1963, she was united in marriage with David Burbach in La Crosse. The couple lived in several places in Wisconsin before settling in Merrill where they spent many years raising their children. Pat was a member of the Jaycettes in Merrill, a Cub Scout den leader, and always a very active member of her church. She was very proud of her role as administrative assistant for the UWEC School of Nursing at St. Joseph Hospital in Marshfield for nearly 20 years where she did much more than her title implies. Following her retirement nearly 20 years ago, Pat moved back to La Crosse where she was able to enjoy her beloved Mississippi River. She was an avid reader with a great love for books as well as a crossword puzzle aficionado and fearsome Scrabble player. Pat was a fun-loving grandma who enjoyed spending time with her grandkids joining in and watching many sword fights and nerf gun wars. She also greatly enjoyed her monthly dominoes and lunch dates with dear friends from high school.

Pat is survived by her husband, David; five children: Matthew (Leah), Melissa (Richard), Jonathon (Bridget), Joseph (Kelli), and Megan (Andrew); ten grandchildren: Jacob, Samuel, Madelyn, Christopher, Maxwell, Alexander, Anna, Clare, Sofia, and Eliana; two brothers: Jerry (Sue) Gora and Marty Gora; and by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Frances, Margaret, and Olivia; and brother, Harry.

The family prefers memorials be directed to Catholic Charities for the Warming Center.

There will be a memorial Mass for Pat at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse with the Reverend Rick Roberts officiating. A visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Blaschke and Schneider Funeral Home in La Crosse and one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in the Mormon Coulee Cemetery in La Crosse.
