Jane A. Noelke Rendler, 85, of La Crosse died Saturday March 14, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital. She was born April 9, 1929 in La Crosse to Carl B. and Amelia (O’Meara) Noelke. Jane married Edward Rendler in La Crosse and spent over 20 years together.
Jane graduated from Aquinas High School and attended Viterbo College, during that time she entered the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. Jane served her community for 20 years as a high school biology teacher in Wisconsin and Iowa. She received her Bachelor’s Degree at Viterbo College and her Master’s at Notre Dame University. In later years, she also taught at Western Technical College before her retirement.
Jane was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish. Her Catholic faith was a very important part of her life.
She is survived by nieces and nephews who meant very much to her. She is also survived by Ed’s children: Melissa Rendler, Sylvia Wallace, Gerald Rendler, Mary Beth Rendler and Paula Bloom; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jane had many special friends who were so kind to her, especially in the last years. A special thanks to Sister Catherine O’Neill, Sister Kathy Stuttgen, Sharon Von Arx, Sharyn Jordan, Sue Bartsh, and Lorraine King who drove her to Mass on Saturday evenings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Rendler, her parents, her sisters Mary Louise Noelke, Elizabeth (Noelke) Ryan and 5 brothers Carl, Joe, Paul, Frederick and Ned Noelke.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday March 19, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Church 2006 Weston St., Rev. Brian Konopa will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
Memorials are preferred to Mary Mother of the Church Parish, St. Rose Convent, or Viterbo University.
