Michael A. Fuchsteiner

March 23, 1941 — May 13, 2021

Michael Anthony Fuchsteiner, 80 years old, of La Crosse, WI died May 13, 2021, at Mayo Health in La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse on March 23, 1941 to Alphonse (Babe) Fuchsteiner and Dolores (Laurie) Fuchsteiner. Mike attended Holy Trinity Grade School and Aquinas High School, graduating in 1959. He proudly served in the US Air Force from 12/28/1960 to 12/7/1964 as an aircraft mechanic during the time of the Vietnam War. Mike was educated as an electrician and worked thirty plus years for Klich Electric, Papenfuss Electric and Stanek Electric. He married Linda Riese and they had two sons, Nicholas and Alex. They later divorced. On July 19, 2002, he married Julie Moore.

Mike is survived by his wife Julie, sons Nicholas (Amanda) and Alex (Chastity), brother Steve (Judy), sisters Peggy Gonzales, Sara (Robin) Holznecht, and Maripat Coughlin, beloved grandchildren, Ivy and Ian, Lexi, Emma and Riley; sister-in-law Nancy Mollen and brothers-in-law, Tod Kovara, Terry (Dee) Kovara and Dan (Claudia) Kovara, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Tim Coughlin. Things that made Michael smile were his wife Julie, his children and grandchildren, a Bucky Badger win, a peanut butter and pickle sandwich, classic Carver wood boats, CJ7 Jeeps, his family trip to Alaska, sitting in front of a roaring fire and a well-mixed Jim Beam and water. He was a proud veteran who loved his country. He also enjoyed membership in various clubs such as the VFW Post 1530, the American Legion Post 52, Badger Sportsman Club, the Holy Trinity Men’s Club and Ducks Unlimited. Mike served as a Boy Scout Leader which afforded him wonderful experiences and memories with his sons. Mike taught a gun safety class to many young first-time hunters. He was a fifty-year member of I.B.E.W.
