Marvin R. Wigdal, 83, died peacefully Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Gundersen Health System, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 8, 1932, to Otto and Esther (Pribbenow) Wigdal on their family farm near Arlington, Wis. He graduated from Central High School. He then joined the Army and later discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He completed his working career with 33 years for the state of Wisconsin. Marvin married Florence (Knutson) Wigdal on April 7, 1956.
He was a man of many hats, usually fishing hats. He loved fishing, camping, tinkering, going out for breakfast and most of all his family. He was always willing to help someone out or lend a hand when he could. Those who knew Marv could not help but love him for his stubborn personality and great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed, although we can never see him with our eyes, or touch him with our hands, He will be in our hearts forever.
He survived by his five Children; Theresa (John) Menden, Raymond Wigdal, Richard (Kim) Wigdal, Ronald (Tanya) Wigdal, Randall (Kristi) Wigdal; Ten Grandchildren: Katie, Kelly, Caleb, Keaton, Kendal, Jordan, Alicyn, Lauryn, Dane, and Abigail; Five Great-Grandchildren Joshua, Avonlea, Addison, Ezra, and Lacey; Brother Arthur Wigdal;Â Nephew Tom LaFleur; Niece Patti LaFleur.
He was preceded in death by his  wife of 56 years, Florence Wigdal; parents Otto and Esther Wigdal; Sisters Gretchen and Ruth; Brothers Robert and Eugene; Infant son Robert.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 18, 2015, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home-Nelson Chapel, 1007 Caledonia St., on the North Side of La Crosse, Wis. Friends and family may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Morrisonville Cemetery, in Morrisonville, Wis., later in the afternoon.
