FOELLMI, Marlin J.

Marlin J. Foellmi (78) of La Crosse died Thursday, June 7th at Hillview Health Care Center.   He was born September 27, 1939, in La Crosse, Wi to Arnold and Eleanor (Bruemmer) Foellmi. In December 1962, he married Margaret (Margie) Buehler in La Crescent, MN. In November, 1962, he was drafted and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Marlin (Punk) worked for the Trane Company as a tool & die maker for 35 years. He taught in the tool & die apprentice program at WTC for 8 years. He volunteered at St. Francis Hospital for 7 years. He loved to fish with his wife, grandchildren, and buddy Norm, hunt, bowl (300 game), golf, play cards, swimming, walking and spend time with his family. He was the best father and grandfather!

He is survived by his wife, Margie; two daughters, Lisa (Phil Sanders) Adams of Irons, MI, and Diane (Rick) Block of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Lydia, Max, Kathryn, and Sophia.   He is also survived by a brother, Ronald (Shirley) Foellmi and sister Caroline Zierke; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Marlin was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Amos (Phyllis) Foellmi, Gerald Foellmi, and Gerald Zierke.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 19, 2018, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska, Wis. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate with burial to be held with Military Honors by the French Island American Legion Post 417 in the French Island Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at the Church on Tuesday.

The family would like to thank Hillview Health Care Center for their outstanding care of Marlin.   He enjoyed all the activities and care he received there. Thank you also, to Dr. Bower of Mayo-Rochester and the care and compassion while Merlin was home from the Tomah V.A.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Renovation Fund.
