Margaret H. Foellmi (81) of La Crosse died Thursday, December 31st at Mayo Clinic Health System-La Crosse following a brief illness. She was born on May 5, 1939 in La Crescent, MN to Henry and Bernadette (Baumgartner) Buehler. She graduated from Aquinas High School, class of 1957. On December 29, 1962 she married Marlin Foellmi in La Crescent, MN.
Margaret (Margie) worked for the YMCA, CSW, Stansfield Vending, and J.C. Penney. However, she will be remembered for 25 years of volunteer service at St. Francis Healthcare. She loved to cook and bake, golf, garden, quilt, and spend time with her grandchildren. She was an avid swimmer at the Y and will be greatly missed by the ladies in her swimming (and coffee) group. She still kept in touch with many of her classmates and enjoyed their friendship.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Phil Sanders) Adams of Irons, MI, and Diane (Rick) Block of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Lydia, Max, Kathryn, and Sophia. She is also survived by two brothers, Henry Jr. (Ruth) Buehler, Bernie (Roseanne) Buehler, and a sister, JoAnn (Jim) Boyer; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin, and her parents, Henry and Bernadette.
Out of concern over everyone’s health and safety during this pandemic, a small, private family ceremony will be held prior to burial at the French Island Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held this summer.
