Lucille A. Newton, 81, of LaCrosse died at Hillview Health Care Center Thursday Oct. 25, 2012.

She was born on July 19, 1931 in Franklin Township, Mercer County, Ohio to Alfred and Rose (Homan) Albers.  She graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Mathematics.  She worked for civilian contractiors at Wright Patterson AFB and Eglin Field.  At WPAFB she met Earl Newton and they were eventually married in Montezuma, Ohio on March 2, 1957 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

They moved to La Crosse in 1957 and after raising a family she worked for the
Trane Company Credit Union until retirement in 1991. Lucille was bery active at
Blessed Sacrament Parish in the Women’s Club, and as a Eucharistic minister. She was on the Building and Grounds Committee for some years.  She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Mercer County Ohio Genealogical Society.

She is survived by her Husband Earl, sons William (wife Maria Gonzlez Perez) of Madrid, Spain; Randal (wife Jane Beers) of Lino Lakes, MN; daughter Barbara (husband Gary Voss) of Spring Green, WI; and sons Richard (wife Gwen Griffith) of White Lake, MI; and James (wife Mary Bigley) of Thorton, CO.  Lucille is also survived by ten grandchildren: Elizabeth and Anna Newton; Heidi, Luke,Kirsten, and Emma Voss; Jesse and Samuel Newton; and Daniel and David Newton.

Also, she is survived by three brothers and their wives: Eugene (Leona) Albers, Sun City West, AZ; Ivo (Terri) Albers, of Montezuma, OH; and Luke (Judy) Albers of Clayton, OH; two sisters-in-law Geraldine Newton of Stoughton, WI and Jean (Roger) Lawry of Oregon, WI; one brother-in-law , Paul Wachter of Huntsville, AL; many nieces , nephews and cousins.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Alvina Wachter.

The family wishes to thank the Gundersen Lutheran Oncology Dept., especially Dr. Kurt Oettel and P.A. Eileen Williams; the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Dept.; the caring staff at Gundersen Lutheran in the Hospice area, and the fine staff at Hillview Health Care Center.

A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday Oct. 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 130 Losey Blvd. South, La Crosse,  Rev. David Olson will preside. Entombment will be held at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Mausoleum later in the afternoon for family and close friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday Oct. 29th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The Catholic Daughters will recite the Rosary at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church.  Memorials may be given to Blessed Sacrament Parish or to a charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.blaschkeschneider.com
