Louis Martin Bornheimer, age 93, died on March 2, 2024 in La Crosse, WI. He was born in Big Bend, WI to Alfred and Elizabeth (Guanella) Bornheimer on June 23, 1930. The family moved to a dairy farm outside of Cashton, WI. Louis graduated from Cashton High School, Class of 1948 and moved to La Crosse. He met Mary Ann Kelly when they were each invited to be members of a bridal party. Louis and Mary Ann were married on June 2, 1956 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gays Mills, WI, and shared 67 years of married life together. Louis was employed by Norplex/Allied Signal in La Crosse for many years.
Photography and being a member of the La Crosse Camera Club were enjoyable leisure interests. He was a volunteer Oktoberfest Photographer for 27 years and enjoyed photographing all events connected with Oktoberfest. Louis loved talking with people and sharing stories. He was able to fix almost anything and enjoyed helping family and friends.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann, on August 26, 2023, and by his sister, Marie Geier, and his brother-in-law, Robert Geier.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon (Jeff) Bryant; his son, Martin Bornheimer; granddaughters: Kelly Bryant and Lauren Bryant; grandsons Heath Bornheimer and Matthew (Bethany) Bornheimer and two great granddaughters. Louis is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Alberta and Edmund Wolf; brother-in-law and sister-in-law William and Joanne Thoftne; niece, Laura Thoftne; nephews Rodney Geier and John (Carol) Geier and niece, Jean Geier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:30am at Mary, Mother of the Church in La Crosse, WI, with Rev. Brian Konopa officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will occur at the Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum in La Crosse. Memorials are preferred to Mary, Mother of the Church.
