Lorna Ernst

Lorna C. Ernst passed away August 14, 2024. She was born Lorna Uffelman in Gresham, Nebraska. Lorna was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. During the depression and the dust bowl her family moved from Nebraska to the west coast.

Lorna married Carl Scargall in 1951. She and Carl had 4 children. During this time Lorna lived in several places including Utah, California, Washington and New Mexico. She later married Gary Zimmermann and welcomed 2 new stepchildren David and Elizabeth. Lorna had jobs with numerous employers

including Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory in New Mexico and Pepsi Cola Co. in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Lorna loved reading, gardening, crossword puzzles, and keeping busy.

Lorna was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Scargall, daughter in law Cindy Scargall, Husband Harold Pape and brothers Arlin (Arlie), Theodore (Toddy) and Vernon (Buddy) Uffelman. She is survived by her sister Estelle Mommson, her children Kerry (Jerry) Kulinski, Dave Scargall, Daniel Scargall, and stepchildren David Zimmermann, and Elizabeth (Michael) Fingado. Also by her grandchildren

Christin (Michael) Scott, RaeAnne Scargall, Ian Fingado, Kade Scargall, Casey (Nathan) Weltzin and Amanda Fingado; and great-grandchildren Hannah, Madison, Mikayla and Gracie Scott.

Lorna’s family would like to thank all the staff at Springbrook Assisted Living in La Crescent, MN and Gundersen Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 825 Jonathan Ln., La Crescent, MN. Pastor Mark Meier will officiate with burial to follow in Onalaska Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at

Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, La Crosse, with a prayer service to begin at 6:45 PM. Family and friends may also visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Church on Friday. We look forward to seeing Lorna with Jesus in the resurrection of all flesh.
