Lisbeth “Liz†Wiebke
Lisbeth “Liz†Wiebke, 69, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday Jan. 21, 2015. She was born Jan. 5, 1946 in Boxdorf, Germany to Heinrich and Marie Hertlein. Liz married Walter Wiebke in Boxdorf on Jan. 8, 1965. They had met when Walt was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army at a friend’s wedding; they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family. Liz’s greatest joys were her garden, her family, and her dog Sam. Liz and Walt had 3 daughters and they all joined with her at her American Citizanship Ceremony in May of 1977. Liz worked for Noelke Distributing in La Crosse for 20 years as a bookkeeper/secretary. There were numerous stories about how she joked and teased her co-workers, and how close she felt to all of them.
Liz is survived by her husband Walter, 3 daughters Barbara Miller, Stephanie (Benjamin van Leeuwen) Wiebke, and Jennifer (Matthew) Garson; two grandsons Lucas and Benjamin Miller; nieces, nephews, brother-in-law John Wiebke, other relatives and friends. She is also survived by special friends Monica and Brad Peterson. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Manfred and Heinz, nephew John, and mother-in-law Clara Wiebke.  The family would like to thank the Oncology and Hospice Departments at Gundersen Health for their expert level of care.
