James F. Zirbes, 74, of Burnsville, Minn., died at his home on Oct. 9, 2013.
He was born Oct. 22, 1938, in La Crosse, to Raymond and Marie (Peikert) Zirbes. He married Glenyce Robinson on Feb. 12, 1966, in Minneapolis. They later divorced. He worked and lived in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for his entire adult life.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Glenyce Moir; their daughter, Vonnie (Derek) Thompson; a grandson, Luke Burkhardt; and a granddaughter, Abby Burkhardt; all of Boring, Ore.; two brothers, Joe of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Jack (Delores) of Provo, Utah; a sister, Jean (Charles) Robertson of Onalaska; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Zirbes of Rochester, Minn.; 12 nieces and nephews and their families; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia Zirbes; and a niece, Sharon (Zirbes) Bowles.
A private Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by James’ nephew, the Rev. Douglas C. Robertson. Interment will be in the La Crosse Catholic Cemetery.
