SIMPSON, Irene M.

Irene M. Simpson, 90, of Onalaska, Wis., died on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Mayo Health System, La Crosse, Wis. She was born in Caledonia, Minn., to Anna and Otto Schroeder on March 29, 1927. She attended Caledonia area schools, and enrolled in the La Crosse Beauty School in 1948. She worked in several La Crosse salons before operating her own salon in Onalaska for many years.

Irene married Jim Simpson in 1955, at St. James the Less Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in April 2, 2007. She was an active volunteer at the Onalaska Care Center and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by a step-son; Roger Simpson of Menasha, Wis., step daughter; Beverly Olson, of Neenah, Wis. She is also survived by a sister; Mary Ann Bradley, of La Crosse, Wis., one brother; John Schroeder of Alma Center, Wis., and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, parents, a sister Clare Bockenhauer, and a brother Earl Schroeder.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska, Wis. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate with Entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at Church on Thursday.

The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
