Irene H. Hoesley, 97, of La Crosse passed away Saturday March 14, 2015 at Hillview Healthcare Center. She was born Jan. 9, 1918 in Winona, MN to John and Frances (Jewsezski) Seracki. She married Frank Hoesley and they were later divorced. She owned and operated Irene’s Café in downtown La Crosse. She then moved to Florida and continued to work at a Country Kitchen there. She retired at age 65 and returned to La Crosse. Irene enjoyed golfing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Cathedral Women’s Organization and was responsible for the care of the altar linens at the Cathedral. She loved to tend her flower garden as well as baking. She was an excellent baker, making cookies and bars for everyone. Even though she shared her recipes, they didn’t quite taste the same as “Gramsâ€. Her family was greatly blessed to have so many years together.
Irene is survived by her children: Donald (Nancy) Hoesley, Harold (Carol) Hoesley, Frank (Tania) Hoesley and Mary Wieman; 16 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Hank, Len and Jack; 2 sisters Gertie and Margie. The family wishes to thank the caregivers on spoke 8 at Hillview who helped Irene on her journey, they are truly special! “Mom, rest in peace.â€
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday March 19, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Marian Chapel of St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorials are requested to the Hillview Auxiliary.
