Gregory F Puent age 91 of Oakdale, WI died on Thursday March 20, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1933 in La Crosse, WI to Mary Ann Jauch and George H. Puent. Greg attended school in Oakdale, Tomah and La Crosse.
Greg served in the Korean War with the 187th Airborne Regt. Combat team. He married the love of his life Alice Ross on September 8, 1956. He worked for the La Crosse Rubber Mills for 43 years. Greg was hired as a production worker and retired as the Plant Engineer.
Greg was preceded in death by his loving wife Alice, son Dennis Verdick, son-in-laws Pat Randall and Mike Patterson, grandson-in-law Richard Terhaar, grand-daughter Corey Eckwright and great grand-daughter Delaney Davis. He was also preceded in death by brothers Albert, Robert, Charles (Betty), Phillip, George, Clement, his sister Virginia (Edward) Anderson, brother in-laws Robert (Margaret) Ross and Reay Ross. Greg is survived by his children Carol Patterson, Darlene Randall, Christopher Puent, Greg J Puent (Susan), daughter-in-law Janice Verdick, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Greg had a good sense humor and always had a good joke or funny story to tell. Greg was gifted with mechanical, carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills. Throughout his life he enjoyed helping others, repairing cars, electronics, appliances and working on home repair projects for family and friends. He could creatively fix just about anything. Greg was also good at explaining how things work or how to repair something to others.
The family extends a special “Thank You” to the staff at Springbrook Assisted Living, Gundersen Hospice Care and Msgr Gilles.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral, 530 Main St., La Crosse. Msgr. Richard Gilles will officiate with burial to take place in Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, WI. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. South, La Crosse, and from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at Church on Wednesday.
