Gertrude I. Ritter, 91, of La Crosse died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Hillview Healthcare.  She was born a triplet on May 12, 1923, to August and Amelia (Doerre) Breidel.  Gertrude worked at the Autolite Company during the war and later at the La Crosse Rubber Mills.  She then worked for many years as a Nurse`s Aide at St. Francis Hospital.  Gertrude married Lawrence Ritter in 1950.  She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxilliary for over 50 years.  She enjoyed reading, fishing, crocheting, knitting, Bingo and trips to local casinos.

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, and son, Randall; by three brothers; Alfred, August and Edwin Breidel; and five sisters:  Wilhelmina Strittmater, Anna Lusk, Rose Lusk, Gladys Stelter, and Gertrude and Gladys`s triplet baby sister.  Survivors include son, Terry (Fran Hegenbarth) of La Crosse, and daughter, Janice of Milwaukee.

 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 9th, from 5 to 7:30pm at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Avenue South, La Crosse.  A private burial service will be held on Friday, April 10th.
