George Lewis Ronkoske

George Ronkoske, age 91, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024. Born on April 17, 1933, George's legacy will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
 
 Throughout his life, George found joy in the simple things - tending to his beloved garden, engaging in pull tabs and meat raffles at Hillbillies, and crafting creations for the wildlife that surrounded his home. Whether he was watching his favorite show (The Bold and Beautiful), sharing a moment of peaceful companionship with his feline friends, or fishing on the river with Betty, George's gentle spirit and kind heart touched the lives of many.
 
 In his professional life, George was a dedicated worker, serving as the Parts Service Manager at Dahl Ford for many years. Even after his official retirement, he continued to give back to his community by driving school buses until be retired again in 2021 after 21 years of service. George was a proud US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War from 1953-1955.
 
 George is survived by his best friend and loving partner for over 50 years, Betty Joseph; daughter, Cheri Ronkoske Carter; grandchildren, Austin and Skye; Betty’s children, Jeff (Sandy) Joseph, Mary Joseph, Julie (Steve) Duff, Sue Joseph, and Mike (Marlene) Joseph, grandchildren, Carolyn Joseph, Paul Joseph, Nick (Amelia) Duff, Michael (Tanya) Duff, Bryan Duff, Matt (Angie) Joseph, Kyle (Lindsey) Joseph, and Alex (Michelle) Joseph; great grandkids, Jackson Joseph, Sofia Doering, Elliana Joseph, and Raelynn Joseph, feline friends, Mika and Frankie; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters. 

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 11am at Saint James the Less Catholic Church (1032 Caledonia St, La Crosse, WI) with visitation beginning at 10am.
