Everett "Butch" G. Vinson

Everett “Butch” G. Vinson, 73, of Onalaska, Wis., died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017, in his home with his family. He was born in La Crosse, Wis., on Dec. 12, 1943 to Orville and Ada (Kelley) Vinson. He married Mary E. Pierce on Oct. 10, 1969, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rockford, Ill.

Butch served in the US Army from 1961- to 1965.    He worked for the School district of La Crosse from 1976 until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Struck-Klanrud American Legion Post 336, Onalaska, Wis.

He is survived by his wife; Mary of Onalaska, Wis., one son; James Todd Vinson of La Crosse, Wis., one grandson; Matthew J (Shelly) Vinson and great grandchildren; Elijah, Tullia, and Isla Vinson, one sister; Sandra (Lyle) Saumweber of Star Prairie, Wis., three brothers; Terry (Linda) Vinson of Sparta, Wis., Joseph (Candi) Vinson of Onalaska, Wis., and Clifford (Karen) Vinson of Tomah, Wis., his step-sisters; Crystal Kunze and Irene Greeno, and his step-brother John Greeno. He is further survived by his god-children; Shaun E. Pierce of Green Bay, Wis., Erin M. Pierce of La Crosse, Wis., and Jayme (Lamm) Longmire of Spring Grove, Minn., and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville Vinson and Ada Greeno, one son; Michael John Vinson, his brothers Floyd, Howard and David Vinson., his in-laws, Edward M. and Dorothy M. Pierce, niece, Melody Frappier, and nephews, Timothy John and Christopher Vinson, Alexander and Parker Pierce.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, Sept.12, 2017, in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 1031 Main St., Onalaska, Wis. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate with burial to be held in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6:00 PM on Monday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may also visit from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in the church on Tuesday.

Memorials are preferred and will be determined by the family at a later date, or can be made to Gundersen Oncology Department or Gundersen Hospice Team.
