HEROLD, Elizabeth M.
Elizabeth ( Betty )Â M. Herold, 91, of Stoddard, Wis., died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born in La Crosse, Wis., on December 1, 1920 to Lester and Rose (Gautsch) Sweet. She married Kenneth Herold on October 26, 1946 , in St Johns Catholic Church, La Crosse, Wis.
Betty was raised on Liberty street, she graduated from Aquinas high school, then graduated from La Crosse Teachers College with a degree in English. She had several jobs before she met the Love of Her Life, Kenneth Herold, and they were married for 54 years, and they had two wonderful sons. Betty was a very active person, she and Kenneth did a lot of dancing and bowling. They lived on the family farm and raised dairy cows, a few beef and lots of trout. She enjoyed her cats, which she had many of, did a lot of crossword puzzles, and enjoyed every type of sport you could think of, Go Packers. Betty did a lot of gardening, and really enjoyed it when grandchildren, and great grandchildren arrived.
She is survived by her two sons: Timothy (Sherry) Herold of Stoddard, Wis., and Lance (Jackie) Herold of La Crosse, Wis., four grandchildren: Tony (Kris) Herold, Carrie (Anthony) Apuan, Travis (Katie)Herold and Tricia Herold, seven great-grandchildren: Dalton and Maggie Herold, Kaeden, Nathaniel, and Elizabeth Apuan, Taylor and Avery Herold, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth on Aug. 6, 2001, her parents, and one brother Robert Sweet, sisters in- law Elrae Sweet and Alice Herold, brothers in- law Herbert Herold and Angus ( Jim )Â Mc Connell.
We would like to give a special thanks to Anthony and Carrie for giving Mom a great warm place to spend her last months. Also, we would like to thank the caring people of Mayo Clinic Health System hospice.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 28, 2012, in Mary, Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2006 Weston St. Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate with entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 PM Friday at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis., with a Scripture Service to be held at 6:30 PM. Family and friends may also call from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass in the church on Saturday.
Memorials are preferred to be determined later by the family.
