REGET, Edward D.

Edward D. Reget, 78, of La Crosse, Wi., died Thursday, September 04, 2014, in Hillview Health Care Center, in La Crosse, Wi., surrounded by his family. He was born in La Crosse, Wi., on July 9, 1936, to Robert and Susanna (Fancher) Reget. He married Patricia Mackie on April 28, 1956, in St. James the Less Catholic Church, La Crosse, Wi.

Ed was a graduate of Aquinas High School, class of 1954. Ed worked in a variety of jobs, most dealing with the automotive and plumbing industries. He operated his own Mobile service station, and worked at Dahl Ford and Ace Plumbing, before finishing his career as the Highway Shop Superintendent for La Crosse County.

Ed was a people person that loved to entertain his family, friends and co-workers. His cookouts were legendary for prime rib on the grill (everyone’s favorite), but homemade pizza and chip dip were family favorites for Packer Sundays. Ed loved his Wisconsin sports teams, but was an avid Packer fan first and foremost.

He is survived by his wife Patricia “Pat” of La Crosse, Wi., two daughters; Susan Reget Ammerman of Onalaska, Wi., and Mary Ann (Chris) Peterson of Woodbury, Mn., three sons; Tim (Peggy) Reget of Mindoro, Wi., David (Mary) Reget of La Crosse, Wi., and Randy Reget of Onalaska, Wi. five grandchildren; Jenna Colyer, Nick (Melissa) Ammerman, Katie (Nick) Johnson, Makayla Peterson and Braydon Peterson., and four great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by two brothers; Richard (Eunice) Reget of Cashton, Wi., and Thomas Reget of La Crescent, Mn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Margaret Wittenberg and one brother Robert Reget.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. So., La Crosse, Wis. Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse, Wis. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7:00 PM Sunday, at the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home. Family and friends may also call from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home on Monday. Luncheon to follow at the Moose Lodge in La Crosse.
