Donald “Doc” N. Olson, 90, of La Crosse, Wis., passed away peacefully Wed., Feb. 11, 2015, at Mayo Health System La Crosse, Wis., with his wife of 55 years by his side. He was born in La Crosse, Wis., to Norman and Vera (Dansberry) Olson. He married Ruth Haeuser on Feb. 27, 1960, in English Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Wis.

Doc graduated from Central High School Class of 1943. He was a member of the “La Crosse All City Football Team” as a Guard in 1942. Doc served our country in WWII in the US Army as a Sargent with the Infantry Platoon while stationed in Europe. Doc and his wife Ruth loved music and dancing. Doc and Ruth also rescued the Central High School sports team pictures from old Central High School, framed them, and they now line the walls of the new Central High School.

He is survived by his beloved wife; Ruth of La Crosse, Wis., loving father of Gregg (Kathy) Olson, Susan (Gary) Kelm, and Michelle (Roger) Lamping. Cherished grandfather of Rachel Jacobs, Sarah (Mo Abdi) Olson, Marc (Terra) Olson, Emily, Katie, and David Kelm. Proud great-grandfather of Sofia, Jamal, Jessica, Jennifer (who’s on the way), and Sam. Dear Uncle of Vickie Lauermann and Glenna (Bob Cox) Eorgoff. Fond brother-in-law of Ruby (the late Marvin) Sloop, the late Merlin (Marvelle) Haeuser, Carrol (Vivian) Haeuser, Rhoda (the late Robert) Grebe, and Leland Haeuser. He is further survived by his extended Haeuser family, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley (Frey) and sister, Dolores McPherson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 19, 2015, in English Lutheran Church, 1509 King St., La Crosse, Wis. Rev. Mark Solyst will officiate with burial to be held with military honors by the Roy L. Vinger’s American Legion Post 52, in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of services in the Church on Thursday.
