Donald Howe 84 of La Crosse, Wis., died Monday December 30th 2013, in Hillview Healthcare surrounded by his children after a long illness.

He was born September 27th 1929, to Earl and Marie (Wickert) Howe. He Attended school at the Lower French Island Grade School and Logan High School. He Married Dorothy Mach in 1958, they later divorced. He also served his Country in the US Army. He worked for John Deere in the Waterloo, IA, and He also worked on the Rail Road. Don was a self employed as a mechanic and he loved to work on old cars. His greatest pleasures were Ice Skating, dancing, playing cards and his family.

He is survived by his two children; David (Karen) Howe of La Crosse Wis. Sharon (Mark) Hellerud of La Crosse, Wis., three Grand Children; Krystal (Joseph), Mark and David. Three step-great-grand children; Ryan (Sara) and Mandy. five great-grand children; Isaac, Amar, Breanna, and the apple of his eyes, Brandon and Jaylen Hellerud. Don is also survived by three sisters; Lucille Marsh of Washington, Liz Tooke of Onalaska, Wis., and Mary Cannon of Onalaska Wis., one Brother; George (Grace) Howe of Dike, IA. He is also survived by 2 Sister-in-laws; Elaine Howe of Milwaukee, Wis., and Cleo Howe of Prescott, Wis., and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his Parents, Two Children Donna and Ronny Howe, Four brothers Floyd, James, Robert, and Walt Howe.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday January 4, 2013, in Olivet Lutheran Church, 2100 Bainbridge Street, La Crosse, Wis. Rev. David Baldukas will officiate with burial with Military Rites by the Homer Hall Jr. American Legion Post 415, French Island, in the French Island Cemetery. Family and Friends may call from 9 am until the time of the Services in the church on Saturday.

Memorials are preferred to the family of Don Howe.
