Christopher John Skemp, 33, passed away at home in Lake Mary, Florida on August 26, 2017. Christopher was born in Mesa, Arizona on December 6, 1983 to Thomas and Jane (Blaschke) Skemp.

At the age of 3 his family moved from Arizona to the Orlando, Florida area.  He lived for over 30 years in Florida.

In his youth Christopher was a competitive gymnast. For a number of years, he traveled throughout the State of Florida competing in gymnastic tournaments. He won a State championship and finished in third place at the Southeastern States Regionals.

He had attended Seminole Community College and was employed by Harbour Healthcare Group, Inc.

Christopher was an active computer game player. He also was an avid movie fan, able to list actors and their movies as well as quote lines of dialogue with ease. He enjoyed his frequent vacations in LaCrosse spending time with extended family.   He especially enjoyed time spent on the Mississippi and Black Rivers.   He loved  Wisconsin cheese, and a supply of cheese curds was usually present on the return trips to Florida.

He is survived by his father; Thomas Skemp of Lake Mary, Florida, sister Katie Skemp of Jacksonville, Florida; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jane,  maternal grandparents  Jerry and Betty Blaschke, paternal grandparents, Dr. John and Ethel Skemp, uncle Jim Blaschke and aunt Barbara  Young.

Christopher had a kind nature.  Although he loved all animals, he had a special fondness for dogs. His dog  Snoochie was his constant companion.

Memorials may be sent to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 15 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse, Deacon Richard Sage will officiate.
