Betty Jean Breidel

Jean, 81, of La Crosse died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center, La Crosse.

She was born in La Crosse, on Jan. 10, 1932, to Judson and Mildred Richmond. She married Paul Breidel on Sept. 30, 1950, at St. James Catholic Church.

Jean graduated from Logan High School in 1949. She was an avid bowler and loved making crafts with her grandkids. Her favorite time of year was around Christmas, and she loved to decorate the house for the holiday. For many years she and Paul enjoyed their houseboat where they spent many happy hours going up and down the Mississippi.

She is survived by four daughters, Barbara Bliznik of Sparta, Paula (Tom) Kromke of La Crosse, Laurie (Mark) Beeskau of La Crosse, and Cindy (Shanon) Rodenberg of Bangor; two sons, Douglas Breidel of La Crosse, and Jeff (Julie) Breidel of La Crosse; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, May 31, 2013; her parents; and sister, Vivian Rohrer.

A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13th St. S., La Crosse, Wis. The Rev. Rick Roberts and the Rev. Larry Berger will concelebrate with entombment to be held in the St. Francis of Assisi Mausoleum in the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday in the church.
