Agnes “Aggie†Koelbl, 94, of La Crosse, WI, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System, La Crosse.  She was born in La Crosse on October 4, 1917, to Valentine and Mary (Shuda) Novak.
She graduated from high school in 1935. She had worked at Moen Photo. She married Robert Koelbl in 1943 in La Crosse. She returned to the workforce as a hostess at the Northside McDonalds Restaurant. She was very proud of her work there and was even featured in a commercial that was aired internationally. She was a gardener, bird watcher and loved to go fishing. She also knitted, was a volunteer for the Red Cross and was a long time member of St. John’s Parish, then St. James Parish. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Â
She is survived by her son, Robert V. Koelbl of La Crosse, her daughter, Kathleen Koelbl of Brainerd, MN, grandchildren David K (Jennifer) Minor of Onalaska, John R. Ludwig and Arthur L. Ludwig of Brainerd, MN, one great-grandchild Caleb Minor of Onalaska and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, her sisters Florence Cross and Leonarda Mason, her brothers John Novak, Robert Novak and Edward Novak.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 16th at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1032 Caledonia St. Rev. Robert Schaller will officiate. Friends and family may call on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
